If you have a dream or vision, but you keep getting stuck in implementation to bring that dream into form, what do you do? How do you get yourself unstuck?
The path you take might depend in part on where you believe you’re stuck.
Maybe you think the issue is with your dream itself. Perhaps it’s ambiguous and not well-defined, like a water-color abstract painting. So you spend time revisiting and reconceptualizing your vision, leaning into faith, waiting for your muse to clarify the edges. Maybe you even dream up a different dream.
On the other extreme, maybe you believe the issue is in your implementation process itself. This might lead you to constantly recalculate your numbers or revisit, refine, and reorganize your systems, structures, and processes.
The Polarity of Pisces and Virgo
This particular dynamic represents the tension at the heart of the Pisces/Virgo axis in astrology.
Pisces, the mutable water sign ruled by Jupiter, is a place of dreams and visions. It’s a creative’s haven: a place for musing, for expansion of possibility and potential. It finds its flow through intuition and how things feel.
Virgo, the mutable earth sign ruled by Mercury, is a place for practical implementation. It’s a do-er’s haven: a place for planning, processes — and, sometimes, perfectionism. It finds its flow through implementation via systems and structures.
From Virgo’s perspective, Pisces, with its lack of boundaries, looks messy and disorganized. From the view of Pisces, Virgo is critical and suffocating in its regimented systems.
Stuck in the Polarity
Currently, the Lunar Nodes are moving through this axis, bringing focus to the tension that exists in the polarity of Pisces and Virgo.
If you are caught up in the polarity of the dynamic, you might end up in a repeating cycle in which you ping-pong back and forth between sitting in the dream and endless retooling of the process. You’re either lost in the dream or stuck in perfectionism and self-criticism.
This is bound to keep you stuck.
But there is a way out.
What Do You Believe?
Maybe what’s keeping you stuck is neither the dream (Pisces) nor the implementation (Virgo), but the beliefs you hold and the stories you are telling yourself.
This possibility is illuminated by Jupiter in Gemini as it forms a square to the Nodes (May 18, 2:45 PM ET, 25º05’ Gemini/Pisces/Virgo).
Jupiter is the planet of wisdom, faith, and expansion. It also represents our beliefs and mindset. In Gemini, it brings focus to the stories we tell about our situation, and what we believe.
For example, if you believe in the binary of “dream OR implement,” then you’ll constantly ping-pong back and forth between the two extremes.
On the other hand, if you cultivate a belief that you can take imperfect action and allow a dream to unfold as you take steps to implement, you’ll at least start moving forward.
How to Break Out of the Binary
A square in astrology is a 90-degree angle between two planets. It is generally an aspect of friction that can help us move forward as we resolve it.
In this case, the square is a T-square: the Nodes are in opposition while Jupiter is in a square to both, mediating their opposition.
In a T-square, the planet in the middle offers the pathway out of the tension of the opposition. In the case of a square to the Lunar Nodes, it represents a turning point in our direction; a new approach.
It’s like the ping pong ball going out of bounds and interrupting the game: the disruption gives us a pause to examine a new strategy for mediating the polarity — and an opening for a new story.
That’s the opportunity for us as Jupiter squares the Lunar Nodes.
Support in Shifting Your Mindset
Our mindset is comprised of a collection of beliefs and stories that are often not conscious to us.
What we believe is shaped by the beliefs of other people who have natural influence over us and the stories they have told us about the world and ourselves.
These beliefs and stories become so ingrained in us on a subconscious level that we hardly notice them — unless we do the work of pulling them out and teasing them apart.
This is the invitation as Jupiter squares the Nodes.
This isn’t easy work — the ingrained beliefs we carry are like deep scars. Just like with physical scar tissue, these emotional and cognitive scars can inhibit our forward momentum — or at the very least make it painful.
But there is help here.
Shortly before Jupiter squares the Nodes, it forms a harmonious sextile aspect to Chiron in Aries (9:44 AM ET, 25º02’). Chiron is a minor planet that is the archetype of the Wounded Healer.
Jupiter sextile Chiron reflects the opportunity to heal the wound of over-dependence on traditional viewpoints and other people’s belief systems. It encourages us to find faith in ourselves and connect with beliefs that can serve us better.
The Sun and Uranus in Taurus are still in close conjunction, reflecting the disruptive nature of relinquishing our attachment to the ingrained stories and beliefs we carry with us. But the Sun and Uranus — still close together — are forming supportive aspects to both the North and South Nodes, indicating that a shift in mindset might be exactly the disruption we need to exit the binary of dreams vs implementation.
After all, the surest way to get unstuck is to shake up the ground beneath your feet.
