There’s a difference between what’s hard or challenging, and what’s uncomfortable.
Things that are difficult to do may also be uncomfortable. Maybe even painful. Although, there’s also a difference between discomfort and pain.
And… not everything that’s uncomfortable is difficult.
Sometimes, we may face a task that is legitimately challenging. We simply don’t have the knowledge or skill or strength to do it on our own.
Other times, something we might resist doing because it is “too hard” is actually not hard at all. It’s simply uncomfortable.
It might force us to stretch, which may not feel good.
There may be some heavy emotional labor involved, but we know how to do the thing.
I find it helpful, when I notice my resistance to something, to distinguish whether I’m resisting because it’s hard or because its uncomfortable.
It helps to identify the source of the problem so you can find the right remedy.
Love it? Hate it? What do you think? Don't hold back...
