New Moon in Pisces Invites Big Dreams, Trust, and Surrender

February 19, 2023 | Renée Fishman

When we take notice of the cycles of the planet, and choose to live in accordance with its seasons, something remarkable happens. We become connected.

We begin to see ourselves as part of a greater whole that is constantly regenerating itself. And we may then tap into this all-powerful propagating force and ride its creative wave.

Rick Rubin, The Creative Act: A Way of Being

On the heels of the Sun’s ingress into Pisces, the moon enters the water sign late tonight (Monday, February 20 for most of the world), giving us a new moon in the 1st degree of Pisces.

A new moon is a time for renewal, and the energy is especially potent when the moon meets up with the Sun early in a sign’s season.

Pisces is a sign that speaks to our intuition and creativity. The moon is extra sensitive in Pisces. This is a sign where we experience oneness and connection with all beings; a place where boundaries dissolve.

It is also a sign that promotes dreaming, trust, and surrender.

What are the big dreams you have for your future? What feels really expansive — maybe too expansive, too bold to even say aloud?

What if you didn’t have to “manifest” them?

Could you trust that the dreams will manifest, even if they happen in a way different from the process you envision? Can you surrender to the unfolding of your life that is not according to the plan you created?

Sometimes the thing that gets in our way is our desire to control the process and dictate the timing of the outcome or the way it manifests into being.

This new moon, and Pisces season in general, teaches us to let go of control and go with the flow.

At this new moon, the invitation is to get clear on what we desire, what helps us feel connected and in touch with our intuition and creativity, to dream big, and then to let it all go — to put our trust in the Universe and to surrender to the unfolding of life.

A Missing Piece Before Dreaming Big

If the idea of dreaming, trust, and surrender are causing your stomach to tie up in knots, you’re not alone.

The other day I saw a tweet from someone I know. This person has already accomplished a lot — a 7-figure business, a best-selling book in multiple languages, a thriving community of people implementing his work and spreading it.

He tweeted some of his new big goals and dreams: his “wish list” to the universe.

It was a bold and audacious list, and I immediately felt myself react with resistance; it felt to me to be too bold.

And then I realized: my reaction wasn’t about this person’s dreams. My reaction was about my story and my limiting belief. His list forced me to confront my own hesitation to dream big and to share my dreams in public.

That’s my work to do in this Pisces season.

This uncovered that before trust and surrender, in fact even before dreaming big, there’s another element involved: belief that we deserve what we dream of, and that we have a right to dream it.

We may not get everything on our dream list, but if we don’t dream it or share our request, we are guaranteed not to get it.

As you set your intentions at this new moon, give yourself permission to dream bigger than you feel comfortable with, and cultivate the belief that you deserve to live your dreams.
