Surface appearances can be deceiving.
Some people glitter and shine on the surface: their hair is always perfectly done, their outfits are impeccable, their nails manicured. They seem to float through life as the center of attention, the spotlight always shining on them and every photo capturing them in their best light and at their best angle.
From that perspective, they seem to have it all.
But that photo taken at their best angle doesn’t reveal the side we don’t see. In the quiet of their solitude, they sit in darkness. They may experience shame, jealousy, obsessions. Their perfectly coiffed exterior may be hiding deep emotional pain. Those dark demons underneath might drive their impulse for transformation, reinvention, or metaphorical death and rebirth.
Ironically, some of the people who look the best in the spotlight don’t see themselves in the same way that others see them. When they look in the mirror, they see a distorted image looking back.

Venus is the planet of love, relationships, and beauty. In Leo, a sign of individuality and taking the spotlight, Venus is all about the surface appearance and the dramatic effect. When Venus is in Leo it wants us to focus on our surface beauty: hair, nails, wardrobe. This is a placement for bright colors and dressing to impress. Venus in Leo is ready for her closeup.
Pluto is the planet of death, rebirth, and transformation. It represents issues of power and control.
As Venus opposes Pluto, we are reminded that all that glitters isn’t gold. Sometimes that perfect appearance is a well-designed mask to obscure a darker interior.
This transit can show us the jealousies or obsessions that drive our actions in relationships, or what’s actually motivating the striving for the perfect surface appearance.
With Pluto currently retrograde in Aquarius, this opposition is bringing up something familiar for review. You may be aware of certain darker tendencies; this review asks you to look at what triggers them. Often it has nothing to do with other people; the drama begins within.
The moon also is moving through Leo and sitting with Venus in opposition to Pluto, which can show us how these darker emotions surface in the body.
As we see the ways our unconscious emotions drive our actions and our physical condition, we have an opportunity to heal those parts of ourselves that have long felt unloved and untended.
This is brief transit, but if you do your inner work here you can free up a lot of emotional baggage, reclaim your power, and feel more at peace in the spotlight.
