Shine Your Light Like the Sun

September 24, 2016 | Renée Fishman

clouds and sun

Your problems begin the moment you begin to believe that the sun is not there.

Don’t be fooled by the clouds.

The sun is always there.

It is the clouds that come and go, drifting with the vagaries of the wind.

Look at the sun, how it rises daily and takes its place in the sky without fail.

It shines at its brightest, every day. Even when the clouds block it from being seen, the sun does not retreat. It gives its light, generously. And it waits, patiently, for its time.

Eventually the clouds move on, leaving the sun to shine in its fullest expression.

Look at the sun, how it shares its light and warmth with the world.

It does not worry that it’s rays will be too hot or its light too intense. It is not moved by the wind.

The sun shares its gifts fearlessly, without hesitation and without apology.

The sun does not hustle. It rises slowly to take its place in the sky. It fades delicately, bathing the sky in a melange of colors, enhancing even the smallest of objects with its light.

Even at night, the sun is with us, as the moon reflects its light.

The sun orients us to our location and guides us along our journey.

It is a constant; it defines what we call day and night, it gives us warmth. It nourishes and nurtures us.

Every day, without fail, the sun rises to greet us.

It is there even when we cannot see it, giving light and life to the world.

Look at the sun.

Unwavering. Unashamed. Undeniable.

Never questioning its role as a source of light and life for the world.

This is what we learn from the sun.

This is what it means to shine your light on the world.

Take your cue from the sun.

Rise each day. Shine in the fullest expression of who you are.

Know that even when the clouds appear, your light still filters through.

Know that even in the darkness your light is found in reflection.

The clouds cannot dim your light.

Before long, the winds of change will blow the clouds away.

And in the clearing, your light will be seen and felt.
