I’ve published over 2,000 essays on my blog. Most of my essays are not that great. Some really suck.
I’ve worked out daily for over 9 years. I have a lot of bad workouts.
I have sat for meditation practice every day for over 7 years. Not every sit brings feelings of peace and calm. Many don’t.
This is part of the practice.
If you want to cultivate a daily practice, one of the first steps is to give yourself permission to suck.
This applies to your writing. Your workouts. Sales calls. Coaching calls. Whatever your work is, whatever you’re trying to cultivate a practice of doing consistently.
It’s not always going to be great. More often than not, you’ll miss the mark.
The best baseball players miss 7 out of 10 times.
That’s a hard pill for some of us to swallow.
Some people can’t do it. They get caught in the perfectionism of it.
But here’s the thing:
You actually don’t know what sucks.
And even if your output sucks, it may still add value to someone else.
So give yourself permission to suck. To get it wrong. To totally fail.
You may even find a sense of freedom in that practice.
Love it? Hate it? What do you think? Don't hold back...
