If you fail to plan, plan to fail.
Proper preparation prevents poor performance.
There is no shortage of aphorisms that remind us of the importance of a well-made plan. Whether you’re going on a trip, starting a new project, or a making a life change, a detailed plan is considered essential to ensure you can actually get to where you want to go.
But what if the need for that perfect plan is actually getting in your way?
The Lunar Eclipse in Virgo (March 3, 2026, 6:33 AM ET, 12º53’ Virgo) invites us to release the need to have everything figured out before you take the first step.
Lunar Eclipse in Virgo
The lunar eclipse happens with the full moon in Virgo: the Sun is in Pisces, the sign opposite Virgo.
This is the third of four eclipses in Virgo. It’s continuing a story that began with the March 2025 lunar eclipse in Virgo and continued with the September 2025 solar eclipse in Virgo.
Eclipses move things. They shake loose patterns, beliefs, and the stories you have been telling yourself about who you are and what you are capable of. They also bring sudden beginnings and endings, and rapid shifts in the order and structure of life.
A lunar eclipse reveals a change that is ready to be made, and can catapult us into the next phase — whether we’re ready or not.
Virgo, ruled by Mercury, Virgo, ruled by Mercury, is a sign where details, data, and information are held in high regard. Virgo loves a good system, a sequence, and a structure. It’s particular about the details — sometimes to the point of perfectionism.
And Virgo loves a good plan — the more details the better.
If an event is going to catalyze a big change or a new journey, Virgo wants to make a detailed itinerary.
Trade Your Itinerary for Intuition
This eclipse is inviting us to consider that the need for the perfect plan might be what’s holding us back from stepping forward.
This eclipse is happening near the South Node, traditionally known as a point of release.
In addition, Mercury, the ruler of this full moon, is retrograde in Pisces. Pisces oceanic waters are a place where everything blends together; it’s the place of oneness and the big picture. Mercury already struggles with data and details here, in the best of circumstances. Mercury retrograde in Pisces relinquishes its facts and data to operate by intuition.
This combination of a South Node eclipse in Virgo ruled by Mercury retrograde in Pisces is a sign to release the need for detailed plans.

Instead of basing decisions on facts and figures, and plotting out every move in advance, the invitation is to tap into your inner knowing and take a leap based on your intuition and gut feeling.
Trust what you know through experience and feeling rather than allowing metrics to rule.
Support and Clarity Come From Action
Often, when we are willing to take a leap even without a clear plan, the support and clarity we need emerges from our actions.
That promise is indicated by the planetary alignments. Following the eclipse, both the Sun and Moon will make supportive aspects to Jupiter in Cancer, which provides nourishment and support. Then the Sun will meet up with Mercury, which will provide clarity of insights.
Trust your intuition and let the clarity emerge later.
