With the Sun in Virgo and Mercury, Virgo’s ruler, currently retrograde in Virgo, we are in a larger container of reviewing these daily chores of life, work, and health.
Mercury retrograde in Virgo asks us to consider what habits and rituals no longer serve us, and what new rituals and routines we need to implement to support our larger vision.
Virgo is the sign of sacred service. During Virgo season, one of the primary question is
What daily habits, rituals, and routines do you need to create fill your cup and fuel your service to the world?
Sun Opposing Saturn: Exposing the Obstacle of Time
As the Sun opposes Saturn for a brief transit today, it pulls our focus to the obstacles in the way of creating these new habits, rituals and routines.
One of the biggest challenges that my clients raise when it comes to creating new habits or rituals is time. And when it comes to matters of time, we are in Saturn’s realm. Time is one the big lessons that Saturn teaches us.
Oppositions expose a tension.
Sometimes, it might feel likely these life chores take time away from the “real” work.
They are the unseen “time sucks” yin the day.
The daily chores of life and work that fall under Virgo’s domain are essential, and they are often places we spend a lot of time. Yet when I review my clients’ to-do lists and schedules, I rarely see these “life chores” on the list or in the calendar. Most “ideal day” or “ideal week” schedules I also omit them. I
They almost got never feel “protected .”
To be fair, some of these tasks may feel mundane and boring. We may not always feel like doing It
They lack the flash — and the dopamine push — of the “big achievements.”
It is easy to think we “don’tTo have time” for them because other things feel more important and urgent.
How to Find Time for What Matters
But if you don’t make time to do theses “little” things, you won’t have any “big achievements.” Even worse, your body, your house, your business’s , your relationships, and your life will fall apart.
This opposition, coming in the bigger context of Mercury’s retrograde in Virgo, invites you to consider how to make time for the work that supports the work.
Sometimes the obstacle is the way.
Every opposition contains within it the seeds of its reconciliation. Virgo and Pisces go after the same thing in different ways. Virgo and Saturn also have a natural affinity.
Saturn is the planet of structure, commitment, boundaries, and the things we do persistently over the long arc of time. And Virgo loves a routine, a process, a system, a schedule. There’s more in common here than meets the eye.
The way to find the time for the essential tasks of life is to create time for them.
We create time by creating boundaries around time — aka time blocking — and by creating rituals and routines that anchor those tasks into our schedules.
And then comes the hard part: commit to showing up for your routine consistently. Not just for a week or a season, or until you receive a reward, but for the long term.
Love it? Hate it? What do you think? Don't hold back...
