The New Moon in Sagittarius Season Invites You to Be Bold

November 23, 2022 | Renée Fishman

If you’ve been needing a fresh start, you don’t have to wait for 2023.

Today’s new moon in Sagittarius brings a bountiful new beginning.

The sun has just left Scorpio, moving us out of the depths and darkness of the fixed water sign and eclipse season.

As it meets up with the moon in the first degree of Sagittarius, there’s a new energy.

Sagittarius is a mutable fire sign.

Mutable means that it bridges the changing of seasons, as we transition from late fall to winter in the northern hemisphere.

The nature of fire, when not contained, is that it spreads. This is the energy of Sagittarius. Sagittarius is a sign of boldness and exploration. It is about learning and discovery: new philosophies, wisdom, travel to distant places. Sagittarius always wants to explore new horizons.

Whereas Scorpio went deep in one place, Sagittarius wants to expand far and wide. This might play out with travel to new places. It can also be a local exploration or an inner exploration of undiscovered beliefs and values.

What is really yours?

What have you acquired from others that don’t fit with your current views?

What new beliefs and values might you explore?

Sagittarius is ruled by Jupiter, the planet known as the great benefic. Jupiter brings luck, abundance, and blessings. After almost 6 months retrograde, it is stationing direct at the same time as the new moon.

This gives us a sense of forward momentum, especially after the stagnancy of Scorpio’s fixed water. We don’t have to stay stuck at the bottom of the well. We can move forward, spreading our ideas like fire.

New moons are new beginnings, a time to plant seeds for what we desire to bring into our lives. With the blessings of Jupiter here, this is a good time to make bold requests.

You may not get everything you want, but you certainly won’t receive what you don’t ask for.
