Last night the new moon arrived in the fixed earth sign of Taurus. The new moon, a time when the moon is barely visible, is a potent time to go within to reflect and seed intentions for the month ahead.
This process of going in aligns well with the nature of Taurus.
The energy of Taurus is earth: grounding and stabilizing. Nature doesn’t rush, and you push a Taurus at your own risk. Taureans are slow and steady — sometimes seen as plodding and stubborn — in their approach to change.
Piece by piece. Day by day. One step at a time.
Act. Pause. Reflect. Assess. Act again.
Astrologer Chani Nicholas explains that Taurus loves the material realm: the sensual pleasures of luxury and comfort. But it knows that the ultimate resources is resourcefulness — making what it can from the resources available to it.
Taurus knows how to sustain its energy; like earth, it endures. It values rest and relaxation as a balance to hard work.
Contemplations at this New Moon
At this new moon, we are collectively being asked to take a sacred pause, to go within, and to take inventory of the elements that comprise our foundation in the material realm: our physical bodies, our homes, our habits, our values, our finances, what we are creating in this world, and the impact of our actions on the planet and its inhabitants.
Taurus is a practical sign, a bottom-line, straight-shooter. This is a time to strip away the pretenses of busyness, settle in, and examine our roots — and I’m not just talking about our hair-color here (although that too, if it applies).
Some inquiries for contemplation:
- Who are we when we remove all the distractions and external commitments?
- How are we working with and using our resources?
- Where is our exchange of exertion and rest out of balance?
- What are the long-term changes we need to make to our foundation and organizational structures, both individually and as a collective?
- How can we make better use of and be more innovative with the resources we have?
- How can we live more aligned with the rhythms of nature and the earth?

Setting Intentions
The new moon is always a potent time for setting intentions.
In this time when so much is being uprooted and unearthed — from societal structures to social inequalities — we are being asked to come together collectively in our intentions as we consider:
- How will we show up when we re-emerge back into the world?
- What new structures will we create that can support all human, animal, and plant life on this planet?
Mother Earth has gifted us with a beautiful home, filled with the resources we need. Will we be stewards of this sanctuary during our time here, using the resources wisely? Or will we continue to disrespect our Mother and suffer the consequences of our actions?
The Opportunities of this Moment
The challenge of this moment is that it has revealed the fragility of our structures. The illusion of all that we thought was stable is shattered.
The gift of this moment is that we have the opportunity to create new systems and structures that will support all of us. What creativity and innovation — hallmarks of Taurus — will we bring to this task?
Rebuilding begins with our foundation first. The deeper the roots, the taller the tree.
We can plant seeds today that will facilitate our collective rising.
Love it? Hate it? What do you think? Don't hold back...
