The evening at Trilogy Sanctuary, a yoga studio in La Jolla, was billed as Dance Medicine.
The lineup included:
- a yoga class
- sound healing
- arial and circus performances
- a dance party
People came with painted faces and bodies, in leggings, shorts, or whatever made them comfortable. Shoeless. Shirtless. It didn’t matter.
There was no beer spilled on the floor, nobody clutching red cups or iPhones on the dance floor.
Trilogy is by definition a yoga studio, but it’s so much more. Gathering place. Consciousness hub.
A safe space for expression.
In a culture where the default “medicine” is found in a bottle of pills, or just in a bottle, there’s a growing current of new medicine taking hold.
I’ve seen it in New York at events like The Get Down. It’s spreading.
Yoga. Sound. Dance. Movement. Creative and artistic expression. Consciousness. Truth.
Freedom to move, dress, and be as you are, in a safe space where judgment gets checked at the door.
These are medicines for modern times. The medicines for a new era.
These are the medicines that cure the cause of what ails us.
These medicines are as addictive as the stuff in the bottles, but the side effects are love, respect, and community.
It’s the cure for whatever ails you. Try it.
Love it? Hate it? What do you think? Don't hold back...
