There’s no denying the satisfaction of overcoming an obstacle or accomplishing something that was hard for you. Neurologically, it gives you a big dopamine hit.
But that satisfaction can get addictive to the point where you overcomplicate things in order to overcome challenges and feel that satisfaction of accomplishment. The problem is that the dopamine hit becomes harder to land.
When every task becomes a big mountain to climb, burnout is inevitable.
When you’re used to things being hard, you might expect them to always be hard. You expect to have to work harder at everything. This can make it easy to overlook or discount the value of what comes easily to you.
Here’s the important thing we often forget:
Just because something comes easily to you doesn’t mean it lacks value to others — or to you.
In fact, sometimes the most simple things have the most profound impact.
What might it feel like to find ease and joy in your work and know you’re making an impact?
Can you even imagine getting benefits from a workout that didn’t leave you sweating buckets, in pain, or sore the next day?
We are so conditioned in the beliefs of “no pain, no gain,” and the idea that if we aren’t struggling with something then we aren’t pushing ourselves enough. But what if that’s just a pack of lies?
Support For Ease and Flow
Over the next week, the planets are aligning in a way that brings structure, flow, and ease to our ideas and actions.
Mercury and Mars in Scorpio, Jupiter in Cancer, and Saturn and Neptune in Pisces are aligning in what’s called a “Grand Water Trine” — they are aligned in the shape of a triangle across the three water signs.
In astrology, as in life, the angles make a difference.
The triangle is the most stable shape in nature and trines are the most supportive and harmonious aspects. A trine is an aspect that brings together planets in signs of the same element.
A Grand Trine links planets in all three signs of the same element. In this case, the three signs are all in the water element, which makes this a Grand Water Trine and provides extra flow.
Think of this as hitting every green light on your commute, catching the perfect wave, being in the right place at the right time.
You’re in sync. You’re in flow.
The Challenge of a Grand Water Trine
One challenge of a trine is that it’s not always obvious. Squares and oppositions bring hard challenges that we feel viscerally.
Trines can be more subtle. When we’re conditioned to look for the places where we need to work hard, we don’t always notice the ease.
Consider walking: you probably don’t think about it much because you do it daily. But walking is really balancing on one leg at a time. It’s hard — but because it now comes naturally to you, you don’t think about it that way.
This is the energy of a Grand Water Trine. It gives us tremendous support, but in a way that’s easy to overlook.
The hardest part of this alignment might be laying down your impulse to struggle and embracing what comes with ease.
Remember: there’s no extra inherent value in doing things the hard way.
Focus on what flows. Do what comes with ease. Look for and appreciate what’s good.
