When it comes to achieving your goals, what factor will have the biggest impact?
Some might argue it’s time management.
Others would say it’s planning and organization skills.
Most would agree that taking action is crucial.
We can make a good argument for getting the right support.
A good coach and community can be a huge boost.
Of course, there’s also the inner work.
When it comes to accomplishing big things, developing empowering beliefs and skills like self-compassion, kindness, and self-love are more essential than many think.
These are all important, but there’s one skill that ranks above all of these.
This might be the most important skill of all.
It’s self-honesty.
You must be willing to be honest with yourself about every aspect of your goals and dreams, and what you’re doing (or not doing) to make them happen.
- what you really want
- why you really want it
- what’s working
- what’s not working
- why you’re not taking action
- the ways in which you’re avoiding action
A good coach can help you create awareness of what you’re doing or not doing. They can help you see your patterns of avoidance, escape, or sabotage. And they can help you create new strategies to get out of your sabotaging patterns so you can achieve what you desire.
But the pre-requisite for the coaching to be effective is self-honesty.
Unless you’re willing to be honest with yourself, those moments of awareness won’t land.
Without self-honesty, no strategy will be help.
Self-honesty is the most fundamental skill.
Love it? Hate it? What do you think? Don't hold back...
