Pain is a resilient teacher, showing up again and again until we learn its lessons. So too, anger.
In a ranking of topics least welcome for discussion in contemporary culture, they probably rank second and third only to grief, which often encompasses both.
It’s unfortunate. Actually, it’s more than unfortunate: it’s problematic.
We all experience pain and anger at some points in life. And our refusal to talk about it, or even to acknowledge it within ourselves, is often a huge factor in keeping us from moving forward in life.
Not only that, unacknowledged and unprocessed pain and anger can manifest in a host of physical illnesses and ailments: from heart issues to ulcers to inflammation to fatigue to auto-immune conditions. Anger and pain disrupt sleep, relationships, and are the ultimate productivity killers.
It can even cause us to lose our vision. Think about expressions like “blinded by rage.” That didn’t just come from nowhere. Emotions manifest as physical symptoms.
But anger and pain don’t have to debilitate us. Anger can also be a potent fuel for action.
As Mars and Chiron come together, they encourage us to find a way to use our pain and anger constructively.
Let’s break it down.
Chiron and Mars in Aries
Every planet in the solar system is an archetype that exists within you. As planets meet up, they give us clues to energies that exist within us, opening the door for exploration and healing.
Chiron is a minor planet that sits between Saturn and Uranus. It is the archetype of the Wounded Healer. Chiron was a centaur — half man/half horse who could heal others, but not himself. Chiron represents where we feel incomplete and inadequate, unworthy of healing. Its role is to help us find wholeness and integration among our various parts.
Mars is the Warrior. It’s the planet of desire, aggression, action, and, sometimes, anger. Our martial nature helps us get what we desire. Anger often arises to show us where we are not getting what we want, or where someone has crossed our boundary.
Mars, at home in Aries, is impulsive. It acts quickly and with precision. This is where the sword of Mars can cut deep.
Use Your Pain to Move Forward
As Mars and Chiron come together in Aries, they encourage us to consider how to turn our pain into a purpose that motivates action, rather than hinders it.
Anger is often a mask for pain. When we dare to look beneath the anger, and come close to the pain, we can tap into a deep well of empathy that becomes a resource for helping others. Tapping into this well can increase your motivation and ability to act.
Rather than fearing pain and anger, we can use this Mars/Chiron moment to uncover the lessons that they are here to teach us, and summon our Mars in Aries courage to offer healing to others facing the same pains.
By using our anger and pain constructively, we can turn them into fuel to get what we truly desire in life.
