seep into darkness
disappear behind the veil
to emerge renewed
Lately I’m hearing a lot of people talking about burnout.
They talk about it as if it’s a problem to be fixed. But what if it’s not a problem at all? What if burnout is actually a natural part of our rhythmic cycle, a sign that it’s time to go dark to replenish ourselves?
Consider the way of the moon:
The moon builds gradually, then releases gradually. Each month it disappears for a few days to renew itself before coming back, replenished and renewed.
The moon literally burns out during its cycle, then it’s light builds back up.
In this model, burnout isn’t a problem to fix; it’s a natural part of the cycle of depletion and renewal.
Perhaps the purpose of burnout is to tell us when we need to go within and recalibrate, to rebirth ourselves from the darkness.
Love it? Hate it? What do you think? Don't hold back...
