Given that I publish a daily blog, what I’m about to share may sound hypocritical. I want to presence that upfront so that you know I’m aware of it.
That said, you also know that I’m not coming from a place of bashing something because I don’t have it. I create plenty of content, so I’ve got skin in this game.
I’ve been thinking a bit lately about content. Our fixation on creating it, producing it, sharing it.
Content has become a form of currency. We need it for social media posts, blog posts, online courses, newsletters, books, podcasts, videos, and articles. We need it in video form, audio, and writing. Don’t forget visuals — we need lots of images too.
Here’s the big question:
What if we don’t?
What if content is overrated and overvalued?
What if this is yet another place in our culture where doing and being are out of balance?
What if the transformation we seek to offer, if our most profound work, was less about what we “put out there” and more about what, or whom, we receive?
We all desire and need to feel seen and heard. The most profound experience we can offer others is that gift. To let them know we see them and hear them.
This merely requires us to be present.
So what if our presence was the currency? What if we showed up to listen?
What if that was the offering?
I have many examples of how this works in a practical context but for now I invite you to sit with this.
Presence. Creating space. Holding space. Witnessing and honoring what arises.
It’s in short supply and high demand right now.
Your presence is enough.
Consider this.
I’d love to hear how it lands for you.
Love it? Hate it? What do you think? Don't hold back...
