If you read the news, you’ll notice that predictions about how we’ll bounce back, and how long it will take, are ramping up. Everyone has a prediction and a projection for what the future holds.
All of this feeds an insatiable demand that we have to know what the future brings and the timeline on that future. The nervous system wants certainty.
What’s going to happen? How long will it take?
Right now, everyone is the kid in the back seat of the car whining Are we there yet? How much longer?
An anxious mind wants to know.
Here’s the most important thing to know:
Nobody knows what’s going to happen.
Not the President. Not Dr. Fauci. Not Governor Cuomo. Not the people reporting the news. Not you. Not me.
Nobody knows.
That doesn’t stop people from thinking they know.
You can find facts to support any argument, but that doesn’t make your predictions true. All models are just projections. Guesses.
Nobody knows, because nobody is an expert on the future, unless they’ve been there. And so far, I haven’t seen anyone come forward claiming they’ve been to the future and have seen what’s going to happen. (Although, that would be awesome.)
And here’s the second piece of truth: this isn’t new. Nothing has changed. Nobody knew before, either. Whatever people said in the past about the future was not knowledge, it was their prediction. In other words, their best guess.
Nobody knows what’s going to happen, and nobody knew before, either.
The only thing to do is to accept where we are and be here now.
Love it? Hate it? What do you think? Don't hold back...
