The Rare Venus, Mars, and Sun Conjunction Provides the Blueprint For Creating a Sustainable Plan

January 6, 2026 | Renée Fishman

Studies show that most people give up on their New Year’s resolutions within the first two weeks of the year. That’s because most people think about what they “should” be doing instead of what’s truly aligned with their values and what they’re actually motivated to do.

You don’t have to be one of the many who abandons your plan before you even get started.

This week’s rare triple conjunction of Venus, Mars, and the Sun in Capricorn provides the blueprint and energy for creating a sustainable plan to get what you want in a way that’s aligned for how you work best.

Venus, Mars and Sun Aligning in Capricorn

When a planet has an exact meet-up with the Sun it’s called a cazimi. Like a new moon, a planet’s meet-up with the Sun starts a new cycle for that planet.

The planet gets a “refresh” and a renewal. Consumed by the Sun’s light, the planet is invisible to us while this is happening. It’s like a secret back-room meeting. This also pulls focus to that planet’s archetypal energy and significations, and invites us to think about what we want for the next cycle.

Venus Cazimi

Venus is the planet of relationships, money, art, beauty, and what we value. As Venus and the Sun meet up (January 6, 2026 11:35 AM ET, 16º22’ Capricorn), the invitation is for us to revisit our values and get clear on your core values.

What parts of life are most important to you? Do you value security and stability more than anything else? Is it your connections and relationships? Your autonomy?

Mars Cazimi

Mars is the planet of motivation, desire, passion, and action. Mars typically represents our impulsive nature, but in Capricorn, it’s more disciplined. It recognizes the value of a plan.

As Mars meets up with the Sun (January 9, 2026, 6:41 AM ET, 19º12’ Capricorn) it’s an invitation to get clear on our motivation for pursuing the goals we’ve laid out, and to plan a course of action that will be sustainable.

Venus Conjunct Mars

The meet-up between Venus and Mars (January 7, 2026, 9:43 PM ET, 18º09’ Capricorn) initiates a new cycle between the planet of values and the planet of action.

Conjunctions fuse the energy of the two planets, and Venus and Mars together in Capricorn helps us align our values and motivation into a coherent and sustainable plan.

The Blueprint for Sustainable Action

This rare triple conjunction is happening in Capricorn, a sign that loves a blueprint and a plan. Capricorn energy is all about persistent, consistent, and sustainable action to achieve goals.

Although these alignments are distinct events, in the bigger picture of time this is one triple conjunction that’s been building for weeks and is culminating now.

Taken together, this rare triple conjunction is a moment that offers supportive energy for creating a sustainable plan that you’ll stick to.
