When I am passionate about something, I dive in deep. I obsess. I dissect it until there’s nothing left to dissect. I aim to get to the truth.
For some people, it can feel like “too much.” I’ve been told at times to “soften my tone” and dial-down the intensity.
Our edges can poke at people, cutting them in places where they feel most vulnerable or uncomfortable in ways that have nothing to do with us. What one person calls “direct” another calls “rude.” What one person calls “passion” another calls “intense.”
But when I soften my edge — when I edit myself to conform to a socially-acceptable expectation — I lose the quality that drives my passion. I lose that authentic part of myself that attracts the people who resonate with my intensity, who find comfort in my obsessiveness, who value my loyalty.
Even worse, I lose connection to my joy and vitality. I lose connection to myself.
The Sun’s transit through Scorpio (October 22 to November 22) invites us to consider what parts of ourselves we’ve softened to facilitate social harmony, and to embrace those parts of ourselves that might poke at others.

The Betrayal in Seeking Harmony
Each sign’s archetype offers a corrective to the extremes of the previous sign.
Libra is ruled by Venus, the planet of relationships and the social contract.
Libra is a sign of harmony and balance. It embraces social graces and diplomacy to forge peace.
Sometimes, to avoid ruffling feathers, we tone down our words. We stick to the surface and avoid going deep, where potential discomfort lies. We soften our edges. We subvert our message.
In an effort to be liked and get along, we betray ourselves.

Scorpio Season: Embrace Your Edge
Scorpio is the realm of the taboo. This is the season of death and decay; the place where we confront what makes us uncomfortable.
After the diplomacy of Libra season, Scorpio asks:
Are you being kind, or are you just avoiding discomfort?
Scorpio is ruled by Mars, the warrior planet.
Mars cuts, severs, and slices. It pierces, pokes, and prods.
This is sniper territory, where strategy meets precision. In Scorpio, we slice into the heart of the matter.
Scorpio challenges us to embrace the audacity to be direct, to cut away the social graces and equivocation so that our message can pierce the hearts of its intended audience and we can feel fully expressed.
Scorpio season reminds us that if you try to appease everyone, you’ll betray yourself.
As a fixed sign, Scorpio is loyal — and it reminds us that loyalty begins with yourself.
Scorpio invites us to reclaim our edge — the parts of ourselves that might poke and prod others in a way that is uncomfortable to them.
Embracing your edge isn’t about intentionally creating discomfort for others. Rather, it’s about accepting yourself as you are and trusting that you’re not too much for the people who matter.
