It’s embedded in our cultural conditioning not to let go of what you have until you have the replacement lined up.
Maybe you’re staying in a jobs you don’t like while secretly interviewing on the side. You work your side hustle until it becomes profitable before you leave your job. You get rid of old clothes or furniture only after you’ve bought the replacements or upgrades.
When I first started in my real estate business, I tried to also work part time at a law firm. It wasn’t a sustainable arrangement, but it did teach me an important lesson:
You can’t fully step into something new while you’re clinging to the old way.
New Moon in Scorpio
This is the central lesson of this week’s New Moon in Scorpio (November 20, 2025 1:46 AM ET), which carries the signature of profound change and renewal.
Clarity and Insights
At this New Moon, the Sun and Moon are exactly conjunct Mercury, which is retrograde, in the final degrees of Scorpio (28º11’).
This triple conjunction means that this new moon is the start of both a new lunar cycle and a new cycle between the Sun and Mercury. Although we are starting something new, the planets aligned at the final degrees speak to an ending. In Scorpio, the sign of death and rebirth, we are reminded that both occur at once.
There is no birth without death. Reinvention requires killing something off.
The Sun/Mercury conjunction is known as a “cazimi,” and it signifies a moment of clarity or insight.
Mercury’s return to Scorpio invites us to confront the fears, face the shadows, exorcise the demons, and change the habits that are holding us back.
Unexpected Change
The Sun/Moon/Mercury are sitting exactly opposite to a retrograde Uranus at 29º29’ Taurus, which is a signification of major unexpected change.
Change is inevitable, but that doesn’t mean we always embrace it willingly. The Sun and Uranus in the fixed signs of Scorpio and Taurus compels us to look at the ways we get stuck in our own habits and insecurities, and to experiment with new ways of being.
Support For Flow
Change can be difficult and uncertain, but when we have a structure that supports us through change it’s easier to stay in flow.
That support is also baked into this new moon: the Sun/Moon/Mercury conjunction have slid into the Grand Water Trine that’s been in place for the past few weeks.
The three planets are in a trine to Jupiter in Cancer and Saturn and Neptune in Pisces. This allows for expansive thinking and structured planning.
Neptune and Uranus are also forming the second exact hit of their sextile, giving us a glimpse at the potential for the future.
Let Go to Move Forward
Most people are afraid of the risk of letting go before they know where they’re going next. But holding on to what was prevents you from moving forward to what’s next.
With 5 planets retrograde and 7 planets in the final degrees of their signs, this New Moon carries a signature of endings and beginnings. This is an invitation to review the past and close a chapter before embracing the future.
Love it? Hate it? What do you think? Don't hold back...
