New Moon in Leo: Recreate Yourself By Reclaiming Yourself

July 24, 2025 | Renée Fishman

Amidst global chaos and deep inner tension, the New Moon in Leo (July 24, 3:11 PM ET, 2°08’) offers a potent moment to courageously step into your radiance, reclaim your power, and recreate yourself by embodying more of who you truly are.

Two days after the Sun entered its home sign of Leo, the Moon meets up with it to initiate a new lunar cycle, opening a powerful new chapter for self-expression, creativity, and leadership.

The Chaos of Rebirth

All the outer planets — Saturn, Uranus, Neptune, and Pluto — aspect the Sun and Moon. The outer planets represent slow-moving generational forces; things that are slow to transform and take shape.

In this moment in time, they are all in harmonious relationship to each other, coming together in a mirror of the chaos we are living through.

This chaos is a re-birth — evidence that the world re-creating itself.

The Sun and Moon are as personal as it gets. These are our two luminaries, the lights that guide our outer actions (Sun) and inner experience (Moon).

As they come together in Leo, the sign of the individual, they speak to how we are showing up in this chaos.

As the world is re-created, we have the opportunity to re-create ourselves.

Recreating Yourself = Reclaiming Yourself

The idea of starting over and reinventing yourself can feel both liberating and terrifying.

On one hand, you’re under no obligation to be the person you were last year or even last week.

On the other hand, if you’re constantly reinventing yourself, how do you know who you are? What is your truth?

Leo is a fixed sign, and its fixation is identity. As long as it knows who it is, Leo feels ok.

Leo is also the sign of the actor and performer. An actor constantly takes on new roles and shifts between roles. But under the surface, they know who they are. They are not the roles they play.

The symbol for the Sun is a dot with a circle around it, representing the balance between the center and the circumference.

You are at the center. But there’s no center without a circumference. Without a boundary, you don’t know where the center is.

Recreating yourself doesn’t mean you must give up who you are. It can be a both/and.

In fact, recreating yourself can be a process of reclaiming more of who you are.

Healthy ego is the ability to balance between self and others. A balanced Leo knows how to recreate themselves without losing themselves.

Support to Build Your Dream

A supportive aspect between the New Moon and Neptune and Saturn, both retrograde in Aries, offers the commitment and focus to build what inspires you.

Neptune highlights dreams or aspiration; it offers inspiration. Saturn provides structure to build that dream.

A harmonious relationship with Uranus in Gemini promotes curiosity about the changes we are being called to make in these times.

Expose Your Fear

This new moon also sits in direct opposition to Pluto retrograde in Aquarius, which indicates a tension that is keeping you from your fullest self-expression.

Pluto represents power dynamics, the transformation of death and rebirth, and the alchemy of turning one thing into another. Pluto is the secrets hidden in the depths and our deepest, most existential fears.

This opposition is a tug-of-war; it represents a power struggle that exists deep beneath the surface. It calls us to examine what forces hold us back from stepping into the spotlight, claiming our radiance, and embodying our most authentic self.

Maybe you fear the power that someone else holds over you — the threat of being cancelled or outcast if you dare to be visible in your fullest expression of yourself.

Or perhaps the power struggle is within: you fear your own power. You shirk from power because you’ve only seen power misused as an agent for control.

Maybe you are afraid of your own light. You fear you’ll be too much, that you’ll shine too bright, that you’ll steal the spotlight, or that others will be blinded by your radiance.

The Confidence to Shine

The New Moon in Leo is an invitation to claim your power to recreate yourself—to step into new roles as a way of expressing your core identity.

A healthy Leo knows that our confidence and radiance don’t steal anyone else’s light.

Cultivate the courage to step into your light, claim your authentic expression, and let your radiance shine.
