In the courtroom of life, how well do you advocate for yourself?
This is the central inquiry of the new moon Solar Eclipse in Libra, which wraps up a story line that we began with last October’s new moon solar eclipse in Libra.
It’s also the central inquiry of Rosh Hashana, the Jewish New Year that begins with this new moon.
How Rosh Hashana Fits With Libra Season
Depending on when it falls, Rosh Hahsha arrives either with the new moon in Virgo or the new moon in Libra.
But Libra is really where it rightfully belongs.
Rosh Hashana begins a period of reflection and introspection. The holiday is also called the Day of Judgment.
The prayer service on Rosh Hashana uses the construct of a courtroom setting. God is the judge, sitting with two books open: the book of life and the book of death.
On Rosh Hashana we are asked to come to court with an accounting of our actions. We compile the evidence and plead our case to be granted another year of life.
Everything about this endeavor fits the Libra archetype.
The Libra Archetype
Libra’s symbol is the image of the scales.
Just as a judge considers and weighs all the evidence, the Libra archetype seeks all opinions and perspectives. Libra wants all voices to be heard — even voices of dissension.
Libra advocates for all opinions — even those that seem disruptive on the surface. Although it seeks harmony, Libra knows true harmony is only attained through discord.
When it comes to making decisions, Libra carefully weighs all the evidence and information available.
But sometimes it overlooks evidence — especially when it’s comes to evidence if its own needs.
Libra can be so focused on listening to others voices that it neglects its own.
It can be a great advocate for the people who are not getting equal treatment — unless the person is themselves.
It might be so critical of itself that it overlooks the positive things it brings.
On Rosh Hashana, our life is on the line. It’s not the time to hold back any evidence for why we should be given another year to live.
This Libra new moon solar eclipse invites us to find all the evidence in our favor and become our own best advocate.
Love it? Hate it? What do you think? Don't hold back...
