I put my phone in the pocket of my bag as I got out of the car. Inside the house I pulled it out and put it on the table. A few minutes later I noticed that it was open to Instagram.
I was annoyed. I haven’t been on Instagram in a few weeks. Although I’ve been intending to reengage, I wasn’t ready for Instagram yet today.
I had other work to do first. This wasn’t in my plan for right now. It was an interruption. I don’t want to get sucked in.
As I started to close out of the app I noticed that the post at the top of my feed was a long post by a friend and fellow teacher. I indulged myself in the momentary distraction of reading it.
I resonated with what she shared, and appreciated her for reminding me of something I needed to remember.
As I took a step back, I marveled at how my phone just happened to open to Instagram and specifically to this post.
It was exactly what I need to read in the moment. It reminded me I’m not alone.
I don’t believe it’s mere coincidence.
When we do chalk it up to coincidence we miss the very thing that perhaps we need most:
The connection to the greater force that controls everything.
I can get so preoccupied by what I “need to get done” that I push away all the apparent “interruptions.”
But sometimes what we perceive as “interruptions” that may cause us to stray from the path are really sign posts intended to direct us to the path.
When we don’t step back to see what’s there, we miss the messages all around us
It’s our job to trust what comes to us.
there’s a greater force
orchestrating life’s events
asking you to trust
Love it? Hate it? What do you think? Don't hold back...
