Today Mars, the planet of fire, action, and personal drive, initiates a new 2-year cycle when it comes into a conjunction with the Sun in the sign of Libra.
This is what’s known as a cazimi — an auspicious placement that portends good luck. In the heart of the sun’s rays, a planet gets infused with energy and power to help it do its job.
Mars’ job is to help us be decisive, take action, and fight. It has a hard time in Libra, a sign that is all about cultivating relationships and being pleasant.
But Libra is also about justice. Mars in Libra can put its fighting spirit into advocacy. Also, Mars infuses us with courage, which requires heart, the meaning of the root of courage.
With courage we can advocate for ourselves within relationships, to attain more equitable balance with our partners. We can fight for what we need to show up at our best in relationship.
It also takes courage to surrender; to know when not to fight, to honor your need to rest and restore and go within.
Sometimes the best way to drive forward with our ambition is to surrender to stillness and gather our strength.
Here’s a haiku for the Mars cazimi, and a poem I wrote with my intention for this transit and the seeds I am planting for this new Mars cycle.
as Mars conjuncts Sun
plant seeds for renewed action
refresh your courage
Intentions for Mars Cazimi
As Mars conjuncts the Sun
I plant seeds for courage
to rest in the discomfort
to surrender to the mystery
to fight for my integrity
to wield my sword wisely
to activate the fire within
that will melt the steel walls
of the prison of my fears
that keep me stuck and stagnant
I cultivate the courage
to say no with compassion
and yes with enthusiasm
to advocate for justice
for myself and others
with fierce devotion
to my highest light
and to be
respectfully unapologetic
in my boldness
I courageously embark
on the path of my making
I trust in its unfolding
and I emerge
as the graceful warrior
And so it is.
Love it? Hate it? What do you think? Don't hold back...
