3 Ways to Work With Leo Season Energy

July 22, 2025 | Renée Fishman

Where are you playing small?
Where do you hide your light?
Where do you tend to slink to the back of the crowd instead of claiming the spotlight?
Where do you sacrifice your authentic expression to please others or avoid ruffling feathers?

As the Sun moves through the sign of Leo (July 22, 9:29 AM ET, through August 22), it’s a time to claim your throne, command your spotlight, and stop asking permission to live life on your terms.

About Leo

Leo is a fixed fire sign that anchors the summer season. It arrives at a time of year where the days are long, the Sun is strong, and the heat index runs high.

In astrology, the Sun represents our ego, our outward expression, and the ways we shine. It’s our identity in action — not just what we feel, but how we show up.

Leo is the sign of authentic self-expression and individualism. Symbolized by the lion, it also is the sign of leadership, courage, confidence, bravery, boldness, pride, and loyalty.

As a fixed sign, Leo can be stubborn and resistant to change, but also fiercely loyal and anchored in what matters most.

Like the Sun at the center of the solar system, Leo draws others in by simply being. It’s at the heart of the action, the bonfire that everyone gathers around.

Leo season invites us to reconnect with the parts of ourselves that shine and radiate — especially the parts we’ve kept hidden.

Here are 3 ways to work with this energy:

3 Ways to Work With Leo Season Energy

(1) Take Action No Matter What

It is better to seek forgiveness than permission.

Leo is ruled by the Sun, the brightest light in the sky. The Sun rises and shines every day, even when the clouds obscure it.

If you tend to people-please, take care of everyone else first, or seek permission, Leo season is the time to cultivate the courage to do the thing you want to do.

You don’t need a blueprint, a how-to guide, or a green light from anyone else to do what’s true for you.

Instead of waiting for someone else to take the lead, be the leader you’re looking for.

(2) Command Your Spotlight

Promise me, that when you step into the light, you will be worthy of the attention you command. — Lady Danbury to young Simon, Bridgerton Season 1

During Leo season, the Sun is at peak visibility and brightness. We feel its effects.

Leo is the sign of the actor, performer, artist, and anyone else who dares to be seen.

If you tend to shrink from the spotlight, Leo season invites you stand tall, befriend your fear of visibility, and let yourself be seen.

(3) Hype Yourself

Leo is the actor or performer who seeks recognition, attention, and accolades — but not only for itself.

Leo energy is magnetic — and it knows that light is not a limited resource.

Confident Leos don’t hoard the spotlight. They lift others into it. Leos are great hype people. They promote the work of people they believe in. They advocate fiercely and show loyalty in action.

If you’re great at hyping others but freeze up when it comes to sharing your own work, this is your reminder: you deserve to be celebrated too.

Be your own hype girl (or guy).

Brag a little.

Share your wins.

Let your light radiate.

Let people know what you’re up to – and how you can help.

Leo Is Within You

All zodiac signs are archetypes and you have the Leo archetype within you even if you were not born during this season.

Leo season is an opportunity to nurture the part of yourself that knows how to shine.
