3 Things to Know About Uranus in Gemini

July 7, 2025 | Renée Fishman

Get ready for some major disruption — as if we haven’t had enough of it this year.

In case you’re just catching up, 2025 has been billed as a year of massive change. So far that billing has lived up to its hype.

With all the slow-moving outer planets — Uranus, Neptune, and Pluto — moving into new signs this year, the planetary landscape puts us into uncharted territory — at least in our lifetimes.

Since November 2024, we’ve seen a lot of major movement from the generational planets as well as the social planets of Saturn and Jupiter.

  • Pluto moved into Aquarius after 15 years in Capricorn,
  • Neptune moved into Aries after 14 years in Pisces,
  • Saturn moved into Aries after 3 years in Pisces,
  • the lunar nodes move into Pisces/Virgo after 18 months in Aries/Libra
  • Jupiter move into Cancer after a year in Gemini

On Monday, July 7, the biggest, loudest, and most disruptive change of 2025 finally lands as the planet Uranus moves into the sign of Gemini.

(1) Uranus’ Cycle

Uranus, the planet of disruption, revolution, and liberation, takes approximately 84 years to cycle the zodiac. It spends about 7 years in each sign.

Uranus has been in Taurus since 2018, uprooting our financial system, introducing new forms of currency, wreaking havoc on agriculture, the environment, and our fundamental systems that keep us secure and safe.

Because Uranus spends many months of the year retrograde, this entry into Gemini is a preview of what’s to come.

Since Uranus is the planet of disruption, it seems ironic to try to plan for it, but if you’re a planner, here are the dates:

  • July 7 to November 7, 2025: Uranus in Gemini “pilot episode”
  • April 15, 2026 to August 3, 2032: Uranus in Gemini “main show”
  • December 12, 2032 to May 22, 2033: Uranus in Gemini “coda”

Uranus was previously in Gemini from 1941–1949. Before that, its most recent previous transits through Gemini were from 1858–1866 and from 1774–1782.

(2) Uranus in Gemini Significations

Uranus is the planet of change, rebellion, revolution, and innovation. It’s loud, disruptive, and unsettling. But Uranus disrupts for the purpose of liberation. It is here to free us from old systems and constraints that no longer make sense.

Gemini is a mutable air sign ruled by Mercury, and Uranus here will bring change to Mercurial topics.

Historically, Uranus in Gemini periods have corresponded to rapid innovations in travel, communication, and technological innovation.

Uranus in Gemini brought us the first underground railroad, the telegraph, the first sound recordings, advancements in radio broadcasting, the seeds of what became the internet, mass printing, and the development of early computers.

On a global level, Uranus in Gemini is also associated with war.

Uranus in Gemini from 1775–1781 corresponded with the U.S. Revolutionary War and the founding of the United States — so this signature is built into the U.S. birth chart.

The American Civil War happened during Uranus in Gemini’s 1859–1865 transit, a period that also had Neptune in Aries.

And the 1941–1949 Uranus in Gemini transit corresponded to the US’s entrance into World War II. Each of these events changed borders and alliances around the world, as well as sparked innovation in warfare itself.

When it comes to Uranus, disruption is often an understatement.

(3) What to Look For As Uranus Transits Gemini

Uranus’ transit through Gemini will bring it into notable alignments with the other generational planets, creating a signature that will be with us beyond this year.

Uranus and Pluto in Harmony

Pluto is currently in Aquarius, also an air sign. Pluto brings slower and more subtle transformation as is crawls through a sign. In Aquarius, Pluto will slowly transform our relationship to technology and innovation.

As Uranus moves into Gemini it will form a trine — a harmonious aspect — with Pluto in Aquarius. Uranus in Gemini in a supportive aspect with Pluto in Aquarius promises to intensify and amplify the pace of innovation and change, especially when it comes to technology and communication.

Uranus Supporting Saturn and Neptune

Uranus in Gemini also puts it in a supportive aspect with Saturn and Neptune in Aries. Saturn in Aries wants to create borders and boundaries, while Neptune dissolves them.

Gemini is an air sign, and Aries is a fire sign. Just as oxygen can fan the flames of a fire, expect Uranus in Gemini to fan the sparks that ignite from Saturn and Neptune in Aries, and fan the flames of that fire.

Neptune is the planet of illusion and confusion. With AI making it harder to determine what’s real and what’s fake, Uranus in Gemini could lead to further innovations that only enhance that confusion.

Expect the Unexpected

When it comes to Uranus, its best to expect the unexpected.

Stay tuned for the next parts of this series, in which we’ll explore more specific themes of Uranus in Gemini, how this might impact you, and how you can work with it.
