A common belief is that to be “successful” we must “play the game” in a very particular way.
Many entrepreneurs preach the virtue of waking up at the crack of dawn. I recently saw a post by one popular entrepreneur that posited that waking up at 5 am to exercise will make you a “winner” in life.
Having done it for the past year, I can assure you that there is nothing virtuous about this. I know many people who are successful who wake up much later in the day.
Putting my exercise first helps me to start my day with physical activity so that I can plug in my brain. Studies show that people who exercise in the morning are more consistent with it over time.
But that sequence doesn’t work for everyone.
In The Ritual Revolution, I am always quick to point out that I’m not imposing my schedule on my students. If waking up at the crack of dawn works for you, great. If not, find the time that does work for you.
Whether through my course or in my private work with clients, I aim to help you find the practices and sequence that work for you so you can implement them consistently.
