Drifting get a bad rap.
Recently I was watching the sunset over the Hudson River in Tarrytown, New York. It’s one of the widest spots of the Hudson River.
As I took in the view, I noticed a couple of people on the river in a double kayak. At first they were rowing the kayak. Then they set their oars across their laps and allowed themselves to drift.
It looked peaceful.
It’s important to have goals in life and work to stay on course. But there’s nothing wrong with occasionally putting down the oars and allowing the water to carry us.
The idea that we even have control over our direction is illusion.
These waning days of summer are a good time to let go of trying to control everything and allow the water to carry us for a little while.
Let go of the reigns of life and allow yourself to drift.

Love it? Hate it? What do you think? Don't hold back...
