From the moment we arrive in this world, we are conditioned to look outside of ourselves for the answers.
We are taught that our parents, teachers, and others in authority know best. Even about us.
We are conditioned not to question those in authority.
We are conditioned not to question at all.
By the time we reach adulthood, we hardly think twice about the information that floods us daily to tell us what we need to be happy and how to go about getting it.
There’s an entire generation of us who are not merely seeking answers — we’re seeking the “right” answer: the “right way” to reach a goal or pursue a path.
What if there are no “right” answers? What if there is not just one “right” way? What if the experts and the people in authority are wrong? What if nobody knows anything?
When you’re a kid you think the adults know better. You think they have all the answers.
Then you become an adult and you realize you are making it up as you go along.
Did you ever stop to consider that maybe the people you thought had the answers were making it up too?
Maybe they are still making it up.
We can get so caught up in seeking answers that we lose sight of the value of questions.
Transformation comes from asking better questions rather than from finding better answers.
Learn to love the questions themselves.
question everything
find pleasure in the seeking
