The True Magic of Jupiter

June 27, 2025 | Renée Fishman

Truth be told, I’m not a rah-rah person. I’m a great hype woman for friends and clients–but when it comes to my own life, I lean skeptical — and hyper-vigilant.

Perhaps I’ve been burned one too many times.

Perhaps my failures ring louder than my successes.

Perhaps the times I broke down echo louder than the times I broke through.

My mind tends to want to shut down talk of hope and optimism with realistic risk assessments and the reasons why something won’t work.

It takes a lot of effort for me to believe in the possibility of a good outcome. And sometimes I’m just too exhausted for that effort.

This “feature” of my mind is what makes me great at contingency planning, troubleshooting, and risk assessment.

But it also causes me to hold back from going all-in on my dreams, or putting myself out into the world.

This isn’t just a “mind issue.”

The subconscious reads these negative thought loops as an active threat, triggering sympathetic overload:

Hyper-vigilance. Nervous system shutdown. Sometimes literal paralysis.

The skeptical lens and negative thought loops are a protective mechanism forged in trauma and disappointment. They have served an important purpose: keeping me safe, guarding against threat.

My Desire For Optimism

Buried beneath the layers of negative noise, there is a deeper part of me that wants to believe in what’s possible — and in my ability to create it.

I deeply desire to trust the process.

I desire the faith that I can expand my business through rest and nurturing, rather than through exhaustion and burnout.

Deep inside me lives a younger version of me who once embodied a sense of optimism and hope. She had the audacity to go after what seemed impossible — and she often got what she wanted.

I want to find her.

I want to once again believe in the possibility of my wildest dreams.

Perhaps you can relate.

Potent Portal For Restarts

If there was ever a moment that supports this desire to believe, if there was a moment that encourages the nurturing of faith and the cultivation of optimism, it’s now.

We are in a potent portal for a restart — one that is supercharged with the power to bring us abundance and blessings.

Over the past week we had a trifecta of fresh starts:

  • last week’s Summer Solstice marked a turning point in the year and the Sun’s annual ingress into the sign of Cancer. Cancer is a cardinal water sign that symbolizes birth.
  • the Jupiter cazimi in Cancer marked the start of Jupiter’s new cycle. Cancer is the sign of its exaltation — a place where it has resources to support our growth with its bountiful blessings, abundance, and luck.
  • the New Moon in Cancer was the moon’s monthly reset, and its annual reset in the sign of its rulership. With the moon and Sun sitting next to Jupiter — a once-in–12-years occurrence — it was an extra-auspicious moment.

The Jupiter Hype

Most pop-astrology sites go nuts about Jupiter transits, and you might have seen a lot on your social feeds about the bountiful blessings offered by this astrology.

I want to believe them.

In my natal chart, Cancer corresponds to my 10th House. This is the most visible place in the chart; it is the part of life that relates to career, public roles, and visibility.

After years of putting in the hard work with little reward, I’ve been so ready for a big boost of blessings and abundance in this area of my life.

The Real Magic of Jupiter

At the same time, my ever-present skepticism is unavoidable. That rational voice in the back of my head warns me that Jupiter isn’t going to magically make things different.

Yes, this is a powerful moment. But the astrology isn’t magic on it’s own.

Jupiter brings growth and blessings, but we still need to do the work — and believing that you can just “manifest” your dreams without effort is the kind of Neptunian delusion that is also a risk in this moment.

The magic isn’t in feeling the magic. The magic is in choosing to believe and take action even when you’re skeptical.

We still need to create our own luck.

If luck is where opportunity meets preparation, then we need to find or create the opportunities.

This is where Jupiter comes in.

When your nervous system is in a place of hyper-vigilance and you’re looking at life through a lens focused on what’s wrong or what needs to be fixed, it’s difficult to see the opportunities.

Jupiter helps us create our luck by reminding us that opportunity is out there — and by showing us where to look for it.

One of the lessons of Jupiter in Cancer is that growth happens through consistent nurturing and tending; it’s about the small steps taken consistently rather than the big bold moves.

That’s the magic of this moment comes when you allow your skepticism, but also cultivate belief — that opportunities are out there and that you can find them or create them by taking consistent action.
