The Full Moon in Libra (April 12, 8:22 pm, 23°19’) marks both a turning point in 2025 and a full-circle moment for something that started in October 2023.
It might reveal some tender wounds and illuminate some conflict, but it also offers an opportunity for healing.
This full moon is the first post-eclipse lunation, marking the official end of eclipse season. Venus, the ruler of this lunation, is stationing direct at the same time, marking an end to its retrograde. It represents a moment of clarity as we move forward.
Full Moon Dynamics
Some of the factors shaping the energy of this full moon:
- At the full moon, the Sun in Aries is sitting next to Chiron, the planet that represents the “wounded healer.”
- The Sun and Moon are forming a square — an aspect of friction — to Mars in Cancer.
- Venus, the ruler of this Full Moon, is stationing direct sitting next to Saturn — a signature of restriction . It’s also applying to a conjunction with the North Node, an eclipse point.
Full moons are moments of illumination, where something that was in the dark is brought into the light.
After 40 days of confusion and introspection regarding our deepest desires, the end of Venus’ retrograde period can bring us clarity about our purpose and path forward.
A Pivot Point and a Fresh Start
Although we don’t usually think of full moons as beginnings, this one feels like a fresh start.
- It’s the first lunation since the start of eclipse season, marking an end to eclipse season.
- Since the start of the year, the inner planets — Mars, Venus, and Mercury — have all been retrograde. With Venus stationing direct, we now have all inner planets in direct motion.
It’s time to get clear and focused to move forward.
That said, this lunation also brings some tender moments and possible triggers.
- Chiron, the “Wounded Healer” archetype, is sitting next to the Sun in Aries and opposite the moon in Libra. This full moon can activate some tender wounds.
- The Sun in Aries and the Moon in Libra are both in a square aspect to Mars in Cancer, which signifies some friction. Mars is impulsive and in Cancer it sees to protect its security. This might be experienced by feeling triggered and rushing into action as a resukr.
- Mars is also forming the final of 3 oppositions to Pluto, which can signify extreme chaos.
- Venus ruling this moon while sitting next to Saturn might illuminate where you’re still bumping up against constraints or insecurities as you start to move forward.
A Full-Circle Moment
This Libra full moon is the first lunation in 2025 since eclipse season. It’s also the first in Libra since the eclipse series we had in Libra.
Although this full moon is not an eclipse, it takes place very close to where the first Libra eclipse occurred in October 2023.
That eclipse was a solar eclipse, which happens at a new moon. It occurred at 21°08’ Libra, with Mars (at 1°44’ Scorpio) separating from a square to Pluto (at 27°53’ Capricorn).
That lunation also was closely opposing Chiron at 17°31’ Aries, with Mercury exactly opposing Chiron at 17°11’ Libra.
Venus was ruling that lunation from Virgo, just recently out of her post-retrograde shadow. Saturn was at 0°52’ Pisces.
Now we have a full moon almost at the same degree, with
- Mars now opposing Pluto – which is now in Aquarius;
- Sun now conjunct Chiron;
- Venus stationing direct after being retrograde;
- Saturn at the end of its transit through Piscesz
This represents a full-circle in a way while turning a corner.
The underworld power dynamic of Mars square Pluto is now out in the open with an opposition, and the deep wounds exposed with the Sun and moon opposing Chiron now have a chance for healing with the Sun conjunct Chiron.
With Venus coming off retrogrades at both lunations it is once again offering us a moment to get clear on what we truly desire. And perhaps window to see how our values may have changed since that time.
3 Ways to Work With The Full Moon in Libra
(1) Get Clear on What You Want
Certainty is the antidote to setbacks. When you’re clear on your purpose and path, it’s easier to stay committed when you hit obstacles.
(2) Find the Gift in Your Wounds
Your wounds are your teachers. Our deepest wounds are also our deepest wells of wisdom.
(3) Make Conscious Choices
Notice your habitual actions in response to triggers, and choose to act differently. Just because other people act, doesn’t mean to you need to react.
