If you’re curious to learn more about my “online courses” and group offerings, you’re in the right place.
One thing I’ve learned is that regardless of the subject matter, what’s most important to learning is whether you resonate with the teacher, the community, and the approach.
To help you assess that, this page offers an introduction to and an overview of the philosophy and beliefs underpinning my group programs, courses, workshops, classes, and other events.
Please note this page is a work in progress.
My Guiding Philosophy
Anyone who works with me quickly learns that I’m a word geek. The words we choose matter. I like to be intentional about them.
“Online course” implies information delivered to be consumed by the student. It’s a passive way of learning that doesn’t work. That’s not what I offer.
Beliefs Guiding My Approach to All Offerings:
- Your best teacher is within.
- Learning is most effective when it is active, experiential, and integrated.
- Nobody has all the answers.
- We learn best in an environment that feels safe and welcoming.
- We learn best through collaboration and in community.
- There’s not just “one right way” to do anything.
- Even the best curriculum won’t help you if you don’t show up and do the work.
Accordingly, I aim to create experiences and spaces where I can share what I’ve learned and hold space for connection, community and the honoring of your inner wisdom.
What you can expect in all of my offerings:
Through years of trial and error, investing in many types of “online courses” and noticing which ones helped me and which didn’t, I have identified what works best for my ADHD brain and hyper-vigilant nervous system. I aim to provide in each of my offerings:
The Structure
- live, interactive group setting
- clearly-defined start date and end date
- pre-scheduled live-calls on a regular schedule
- a set cohort for the duration of the experience
- a mix of teaching and space for community sharing and reflection
- a private and safe space to share between live sessions
The Content
- frameworks that are specific enough and strong enough to guide me without dictating exact methods (which often tend to not work for my ADHD needs)
- clearly-articulated steps for how to do something (vs just telling me “what” to do) — even if I end up finding my own way to do it
- a mix of practical, tactical, and strategic skills
- outer work and inner work
- “science-backed” practices
- practices to help integrate the learning so it becomes embodied
The Space/Container
- holding space for and welcoming resistance, push-back, and contrarian approaches
- welcoming and embracing all people, ideologies, religions, genders, ethnicities, abilities, backgrounds, and beliefs
- trauma-informed and “nervous-system aware” approach to facilitating and teaching
The Approach
- pushing the edge of comfort in a way that feels safe
- embracing your individual pace
- offering additional support as needed
- embracing curiosity
- making it fun
- interactive and explorative
The Community
It comes down to this:
Will I fit in here?
My work tends to appeal to people with the following qualities:
- curious
- open to learning new things
- open to having their beliefs and assumptions challenged
- willing to experiment
- willing to explore emotions
- tend to push back or resist new ideas (even if they are eager to learn)
- crave structure yet resist structure
- want to learn “a proven way” AND also want to do it your own way
- tend to be highly intellectual and cognitive
- desire to hone your emotional intelligence, inner wisdom and intuitive skills (and yes, they are skills)
- respectful, sincere, and honest
- open to other views
- enjoy esoteric explorations and want to ground them in the practical (this is where I shine)
I’ll continue to add to this list. I hope this gives you a sense of whether you’ll feel good here — regardless of the subject matter.
