If you can imagine it; you can achieve it. If you can dream it, you can become it. —
Not without a good plan and some stabilizing structure. — Saturn
In 2018, I sold the New York City apartment I had called home for 13 years, put my belongings in storage, and set out to create a life of freedom as a digital nomad.
I had a clear vision for how this would play out: I would step back from the day-to-day activities of my real estate business, partnering with colleagues to handle the “on the ground” work while I focused on the bigger picture issues with my clients. I would expand my coaching practice — something I could do from anywhere I had phone access. I would continue to publish my blog and finally launch some online courses.
Buoyed by optimism and faith, I embarked on my new adventure.
It turned out that I underestimated the importance of having solid grounding and — ironically, given my role as a real estate broker — a proper home base.
In some areas of my workflow I had created great structures and systems that allowed me to work from anywhere. But in other parts, that structure was lacking.
Trying to find an environment conducive to my work was a daily chore that dissipated my energy. Although I could take calls from anywhere, not having a place that was reliably quiet and accessible made it difficult for me to commit to too many coaching clients.
What I was lacking was not information or knowledge of what to do, but a coherent plan for how to implement it, and the foundation to put that plan into action.
Dreams and imagination are important; information can be helpful; but to create something sustainable for the long term we need a concrete plan for action and a solid structure.
Jupiter Sextile Saturn: Finding A Supportive Balance
On Monday, June 19 Jupiter in Taurus forms a sextile with Saturn in Pisces, a helpful and stabilizing aspect that helps us find this balance.
Jupiter and Saturn are often considered as opposites in the solar system. Jupiter, the largest planet, is the planet of blessings, abundance, opportunities, and expansion. It represents buoyant optimism and faith.
Saturn, the ringed planet, is the farthest planet we can see with the naked eye; for this reason it was once viewed as the limit of the solar system. It represents restriction, boundaries, and obstacles. It is often viewed as pessimistic — although maybe it’s just trying to be realistic. Saturn teaches us the importance of structure and the patience to cultivate things over time.
In a hard aspect, like a conjunction or a square, the energies of Jupiter and Saturn can clash, creating friction.
Astrologer Chris Brennan explains that if we are too much Saturn, we might never take action out of fear of the consequences of making a mistake or not being perfect.
On the other hand, if we are too much Jupiter, we can end up overshooting our mark and not being grounded enough to implement things in a way that is effective.
What we need is a healthy balance between these qualities.
That’s what we get with a sextile: a soft, supportive, and stabilizing aspect that brings Jupiter and Saturn into balance.
A Bucket to Catch the Blessings
Jupiter brings opportunity and blessings; it’s the planet of abundance. But without a solid structure in place, we won’t be able to receive the blessings or leverage the opportunities that Jupiter brings.
A Path to Navigate the Problem Areas
Saturn often shows us where the problems are.
As it travels through Jupiter’s home-sign of Pisces, it’s trying to create structure and boundaries in a domain that is known for dissolving them, and it’s naturally looking to Jupiter for help.
Jupiter at its best can help us see a way to navigate or move through the challenge; at the least it can help us settle in for the long haul of working through it.
Grounding Ideas With Tactile Action
This sextile is the first aspect between Jupiter and Saturn since their “Great Conjunction” in Aquarius on December 21, 2020. That meeting planted a seed for a new story that will unfold over the next 20 years.
Aquarius is the realm of thoughts, ideas, and information.
This time, the energy of the two planets in aspect is different.
Jupiter in Taurus orients us to the tactical, practical structure we need for implementation; it encourages us to make our ideas tangible.
For example, if you want to improve your eating, information about nutrition will only take you so far.
If you actually want to eat better, you need to plan your meals — and follow that plan over a long duration of time.
Jupiter in Taurus — a sign known for its methodical, grounded, and slow approach — wants us to have grounded optimism to balance the energy of Saturn. It helps us put things into place to sustain our actions for the long term, rather than just swimming in the ocean of ideas and possibilities.
Love it? Hate it? What do you think? Don't hold back...
